How I would contribute to the renewable energy Essay Example
How I would contribute to the renewable energy Essay Example How I would contribute to the renewable energy Essay How I would contribute to the renewable energy Essay Introduction Energy is one of the properties of objects that is convertible from one form to another. It is also transmittable from one object to the other. There exist various forms of energy including kinetic energy, potential energy, elastic, chemical, radiant energy and the thermal energy. Notably, energy is generated from sources mainly categorised as renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Non-renewable sources of energy are limited in supply, and they include fossil fuels, nuclear, oil, and natural gas. Renewable energy sources are those sources that replenish naturally and over a short period. Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, biomass, hydro and geothermal. Formerly I was a major in electrical engineering for Eighteen years after which I made a switch to solar so as to bring my expertise to help design and install simple and affordable systems for the underprivileged in the society. Background Fossil fuels have historically dominated the energy market due to their ease of refinery and use in various machines (Twidell and Weir, 2015). However, with the emerging technologies in the renewable energy field, industries and careers have grown and with a prediction of further expansion shortly, that is why I realized the need to shift from being an electrician to study solar energy and later wind power. The primary source of energy in solar energy is the suns radiations, which are converted into either thermal energy or electrical energies using the solar panel. Today, solar energy is one the most ample and cleanest renewable energy source available (Hickson, 2014). In the U.S, the solar energy is harnessed for a variety of uses, which include generation of electricity, boiling water to be used for domestic, commercial, or industrial purposes and provision of a comfy interior environment. Contributions The solar market in the United States faces several challenges and opportunities; there is a greater need to scale up the yield of the solar technology and reduction of the manufacturing and installation costs (Spellman, 2013). My focus is to educate the public on several ways through which the solar energy can produced and to create awareness of how to reduce the installation and manufacturing cost by setting up a higher number of workforce. Solar energy is harnessed through active and passive ways. The dynamic methods include photovoltaics, solar heating, cooling, and solar power concentration (Spellman, 2013). The dynamic methods use the mechanical and electrical devices for conversion of the heat radiated or light emitted from the sun to electrical or mechanical forms of energy. With the knowledge, I have acquired I would advocate for the use of photovoltaics and other renewable energy sources for lighting, heating and other critical activities as a way of reducing the energy deficit facing most countries, especially in the third world. The passive harnessing of solar energy involves designing and orienting passive solar buildings to collect, store and transmit the heat energy radiated from the sun to maintain the comfort of occupants without the use of moving parts or electronics. I intend to use my proficiency as a solar energy engineer to volunteer in modelling after Grid Alternative which will provide solar energy to the poor communities especially Africa. Conclusion There is a fundamental need to harness the renewable energy at this age, which is very sensitive to the environmental effects of using the nonrenewable sources like the fossil fuels, and sustainability is an ethical norm. My focus today is on both adequacy of energy supply long-term and the implication of environment of particular sources more so to the third world countries. Impose the costs imposed on carbon dioxide emissions in developed countries, which has changed the economic outlook to the third world countries. The renewable sources of energy, which are abundant and ongoing, have not been entirely used except for hydro and solar which is majorly used in agriculture and forestry thus the need to educate the public on the benefits of using the renewable sources over nonrenewable sources. The History Of The Negotiation Power Tourism Essay Essay Example
The History Of The Negotiation Power Tourism Essay Essay Example The History Of The Negotiation Power Tourism Essay Paper The History Of The Negotiation Power Tourism Essay Paper In general, negotiation mean dickering procedure between two or more parties seeking to detect a common land and make an understanding to settle a affair of common concern or decide a struggle ( Business Dictionary.com ) . Harmonizing to Fisher A ; Ury in their book Geting to YES: Negotiating Agreement without Giving In, negotiating is a basic ways in acquiring what you want from other peoples ( 1981 ) . While in Oxford Dictionary, dialogue average treatment aimed at making an understanding. In Women Are Geting Even ( WAGE ) web site, they interpret dialogue as conversation between two parties in order to do an exchange. Harmonizing to Rusk ( 2006 ) , the significance of dialogue is treatment intended to bring forth an understanding . It besides can be mentioning as common solutions that used to do a determinations and settle down the jobs ( Moore, 2012 ) , a procedure which is two or more parties attempt to hold on the rate of goods and services that they exchange ( Robbins A ; Judge, 2003 ) . Conflict and dialogue are a fact of mundane work-life, yet it frequently produces anxiousness ( Cutts, 2012 ) . The UK Border Agency has announced that there are still proficient jobs with on-line booking service ( Kelly, 2012 ) . This statement shows that sometimes online engagement faced a job such as lost record ( Kirschbaum, 2009 ) , security issues ( Fane, 2010 ) and proficient issues ( Scoot, 2012 ) . There are jobs that faced by client when they used online engagement system. Despite the fact that all the respondents ( except for one ) usage computing machines about every twenty-four hours, 14 % believe that booking online is non procuring in general ( Bogdanovych et al, 2006 ) . Conflict happen because of these jobs. Conflict happen when people did non hold with the issue, it will make a clash or tenseness between that person or groups ( Nahavandi, 1999 ) . Negotion is a procedure that analyzing the facts of state of affairs, exposing the involvement of both parties involver and bargaining to work out the struggle every bit many as possible ( Moore, 2012 ) . Negotiation permeates the i nteraction of about everybody in the organisation ( Robbins A ; Judge, 2003 ) . Harmonizing to Lucas ( 2008 ) , struggle might happen because of differing perceptual experience, inadequate or hapless communicating and besides contrary outlooks. These jobs frequently happen when covering with client particularly in travel bureau. In touristry industry dialogue is an of import procedure to derive a common understanding of something, particularly to go bureaus. It is important for them to corroborate what their client wants and demand. Through dialogue struggle between travel bureau and client can be reduced. Negociating through countries of struggle can frequently take to win-win state of affairss agreeable to parties, cut downing sick felling and struggle ( Queensland Government, 2011 ) . Travel agents have the dialogue power because they have maximal pick to offer to their clients ( Travel Cafe Inc 2011 ) . This means they have assortment of picks that they can acquire from their t ravel providers and they can give us the best trade with best value of possible. Online booking deficiency of firsthand cognition and seldom gives client chance to talk with person knowing about service that they are booking ( Morelock, 2012 ) . The clients and travel agents can help us to acquire what we want in our holiday. Online booking allow client to do all travel programs on the cyberspace means they can make it any clip of the twenty-four hours or dark at place or while they re on their tiffin interruption at the office ( Oakley, 2012 ) . It is true when we are making booking online we can do a engagement everyplace and anytime but we can non negociate the monetary value of the touristry merchandise that we wish to book. If we are negociating with travel agents, we have the opportunity to acquire lower monetary values as possible. Price dialogue normally occurs during buying of stuffs or supplies ( Francois, 2012 ) . For illustration, if a travel bundle to Cameron Highlands costs about RM300 for two darks, the clients can negociate the monetary value lower and can acquire around RM250. With dialogues, both parties will have their ain benefits and it is a win-win state of affairs ( Rusk, 2006 ) . When client asks an agent to negociate, means client are basically inquiring the agent to subsidise the ir holiday ( Brock, 2009 ) but through on-line system, client had no alteration to negociate with an agent because the monetary value is fixed. The Marriott International, Hilton Hotels, Sheraton Hotels A ; Resorts and others was charged in San Francisco Federal Court on charges conspired to utilize their market laterality to repair the hotel monetary values with travel web sites like Travelocity, Booking.com and Expedia, a subordinate of Priceline.com From this instance we can see that client can non negociate the monetary value because the monetary value is fixed. The purpose of the dialogues is to make up ones mind the monetary value that is acceptable for both parties ( Francois, 2012 ) From monetary value dialogue procedure it becomes dickering procedure. Negotiations normally follow a procedure of positional bargaining ( Cutts, 2012 ) . Oxford Online Dictionary give two reading of bargaining, the first is an understanding between two or more people or groups as to what each will make for the other. The 2nd is a thing bought or offered for sale much more stingily than usual or expected. There are two types of dialogue which are distributive bargaining and integrative bargaining ( Robbins A ; Judge, 2003 ) . Distributive bargaining besides called claiming value, zero-sum or win-lose bargaining is a competitory scheme that is used to make up ones mind how to administer a fixed resource such as money ( Spangler, 2003 ) . Honeyman ( 2012 ) , interpret intergrative bargaining as one of platform which party attempt to understand involvements of another party, on the outlook that it will assisting the opposition to make solution as antiphonal its ain concerns. Harmoniz ing to Tewart ( 2012 ) , many times people say they do nt wish to negociate ( dickering ) yet, they still shop about and neer pay full monetary value. The word bargaining here does non merely average monetary value dialogue, it is a much differentiated and broader term ( Management Study Guide, 2012 ) . Customer besides can dicker to construct his or her ain trip with or without aid from a client attention executive ( Agarwal, 2012 ) , inquiring whether travel bureau offer travel insurance ( trip Travel Responsibility Informed A ; Protected, 2012 ) and a client can seek damages under certain fortunes normally referred as the right to mend, replacing or refund ( Government of South Australia, 2011 ) . These are things that client can dicker with travel bureaus. The freedom of client is restricted when they make booking through online. Customer can non corroborate their specific demand when make the online engagement through the hotel reserve system ( Vyas, 2010 ) . For illustration, when they make booking through hotel reserve system, if they have something that they do nt understand, no topographic point for them to raise the inquiries. Harmonizing to Lloyd, booking online does nt hold single to cover with booking procedure, it leaf to client to read and understand the complicated footings and conditions. One of the advantages of booking direct with the hotel, by phone or electronic mail, is that client can bespeak a specific room of the hotel and they can non usually do that online or with an agent ( Trend, 2010 ) Harmonizing to Tewart ( 2012 ) , most people act in their best involvement and most people who say they do nt wish negociating, really still desire to. This statement show that clients still love to negociate and online engagement system prevent them from making it. Negotiation is needed in order to procure the resources required for successful undertaking completion ( Evans A ; Lindsay, 2008 ) . Through negociating win-win solutions with clients it will non merely give your company the best opportunity to win but will besides make relation between client and your company for future gross revenues chances ( Douglas, 2003 ) . Negotiation besides can increase lucidity about the job, can take to advanced discoveries and new attacks, engagement in struggle can sharpen attacks to bargaining, act uponing, viing and besides can concentrate more attending on basic issues and lead to solution ( Wertheim,1996 ) Vyas, J. Health Economics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Health Economics - Essay Example Economic theory triggers arguments put forward for both sides of the discussion. Neo-classical economists state that the utilization of health services surpasses communally beneficial standards when health care expenses are entirely covered by insurance. Insurance decreases the marginal expenditure of individuals who are utilizing health services because it efficiently lowers the cost of these services to zero. Accordingly, insured individuals will take advantage of as much health care as they would if the health care were free of charge (Thompson and Mossialos n.d., 227). Many studies reveal that when confronted with higher expenses, individuals will procure less care. Preferably, higher co-payments would damp only the use of low-worth care (Chernew and Fendrick n.d., 17). The probable risks of higher cost sharing are most sensitive for seniors and disabled persons.à Since these people use the majority of health services and medicines, their out-of-pocket expenses for co-payments would be maximum and they are the ones most probable to evade or delay required health care owing to cost problems (Ku 2003).à When individuals have to disburse fees or co-payments for health care, the quantity can be so high concerning earnings that it results in ââ¬Å"economic catastropheâ⬠for the person or the household. Such high spending health care facilities signify that individuals have to reduce their necessities, for instance, food and clothing, or are incapable of paying for their childrens schooling. Every year, around 44 million families, or above 150 million people, all through the world face appalling expenditure, and roughly 25 million families or over 100 million individuals are pressed into poverty by the requirement to disburse for services. Moreover, the effect of these out-of-pocket payments for health care goes away from catastrophic

Module 9 - Essay Example The plants often used in these designs are stylized versions of the acanthus, with emphasis on the leafy forms, the vine, and the twining stems. It is claimed that arabesque is used for its theological significance, but there are no documents validating this, probably because of the ancient origins of the design. The intricacy of the arabesque reflects the Islamic world view: the repetitive, mathematically precise patterns of foliage and geometric designs signify infinity that extends beyond the visible material world. Its infinite patterns symbolize the perfect nature of the creation of the one God (Arabesque, 2007). The mathematical and exacting complexity of the design creates a visual appeal that may be read within the context of the philosophical, theological and political discourses on Godââ¬â¢s nature and that of the universe (Campo, 2009). There are some writers, however, who are convinced that since the Arabesque style preceded Islam, its value in Islamic architecture and art are little more than ornamental, with little implication on the Islamic world view (Brill, 1987). The video showed scenes of Islamic mosques and their surrounding courtyards, characterized by domes and minarets. The arabesque inlays in the panels and ceilings complemented the repeating arches that capture a geometric exactness that conveyed infinite perfection. The majesty of the architecture was well highlighted in the grand structures and rich artwork. More surprisingly, however, the same exotic architecture was shown in the common areas such as sidewalks where vendors sell their wares and pedestrians hurry about their business. In these places, the colors may be a bit more worn, nevertheless the hint of grandeur remains in the form of arches and arabesque designs in the ceilings and posts. Many of the mosques and palatial structures are reportedly from as early as the 8th century, a testament to the longevity and universality of the artwork as well as the durability of the structure. However, included in the video are pictures of the more modern buildings such as Malaysiaââ¬â¢s Petronas Twin Towers. Looking every inch the modern high rise building that it is, the cross-sectional design of the towers make use of the geometric patterns used in the more ancient Islamic architectural works. In many of the buildings, a clear continuity with the surrounding natural environment helps to enhance the beauty of the buildings at night as well as during the day. Locating the structure over or close to a body of water allows for the reflection to extend the image and underscore the repetitiveness and continuity of the

Female characters from Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and from The Withered Arm by Thomas Hardy Essay Example for Free
Female characters from Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and from The Withered Arm by Thomas Hardy Essay Compare the presentation of two female characters, one from Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, and one from The Withered Arm by Thomas Hardy, Pay close attention to their roles as outsiders. In these works of prose fiction, both authors write about women confronted by circumstances that make their lives very difficult. The women are, or become, outsiders of one sort or another. You will need to: show your knowledge of both texts Use quotations to support the points that you make Show a knowledge of the life and times that each author was writing in Show what you understand the term outsider to mean. I am writing an essay comparing Curly`s wife from the novel Of Mice and Men and Rhoda Brook from The Withered Arm. John Steinbeck was born in 1902 and lived until 1968 was an American who lived in California this is where he wrote his novels. He always had jobs on farms during his highschool-years, or, as he was very much interested in science, helped out in local laboratories. After school John went to college at Stanford University but John dropped out of school without a degree to enter journalism in New York. He then returned to California to write novel writer. Of Mice and Men was the first novel that was recognised, Of Mice and Men was first published in 1937. In 1962 John Steinbeck got the Nobel-prize for literature. Steinbeck wrote Of Mice and Men. Of Mice and Men was a story about two men who move from Ranch to Ranch earning just enough money to last them the week. John Steinbeck wrote this story from experience he also travelled from ranch to ranch so knew what it was like to not have a life and have life plane just dreams to look forward to which were just distance dreams. Steinbeck expresses his feelings on life living on a ranch through Georges character, in the book George was always repeating his story on men living on the ranch and describes them as nobodies. John Steinbeck wrote Of Men and Mice during depression and wrote about two men George and Lenny as the loneliest guys in the world which were like him not going to stay alone they are different and they will achieve there dream and this is what John Steinbeck achieved. Guy swho lived on ranches were usually very lonely but John Steinbeck was not going to be lonely and when too old be useless he wanted to overcome his dream. Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They dont belong no place. They come to a ranch an work up a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake, and the first thing you know theyre poundin their tale on some other ranch. They ait got nothing to look ahead to. John Steinbeck then lived in California and wrote Grapes of Wrath a story about people who earned nothing and would work non stop for a slice of bread. Both Steinbecks novels are to do with money and people working so hard to become there dream like Lenny and George their dream was to have their dream house but it was out of their reach and they could not overcome it. Thomas Hardy was born in 1840 and lived until 1928. He lived in Dorset so knew a lot about the place he wrote the withered arm which was set in Dorset during 1825 although Hardy knew a lot about Dorset he set the novel before he was even born. Because the story was set so before his time he had to adapt his knowledge of Dorset to how it was in the 1820s his words had to be old fashioned and include long intense sentences to suit the play in the time it was set. Unlike John Steinbeck, Hardy wrote long sentences with old fashioned words. Thomas Hardy was educated locally and at 16 he worked for an architect. At 22 he went to London to train as architect, he then returned home, he then returned home in 1867 persue his chosen career to write novels. He had even started writing his first novel The Poor Man and the Lady, which was never published. Thomas Hardy wrote about fate and pentimizium, most of his novels were tragedies, and he appeared to grow more pessimistic in later life. He then stopped writing novels and returned to writing poetry. Thomas Hardy wrote the withered arm of which is his best known novel The withered arm DESCRIPTION OF STORY. Both the authors write about women confronted by circumstances that make their lives very difficult. The women are outsiders and are not loved and want a better life. Of Mice and Men written by john Steinbeck has a woman in, in the story her name is never spoken of she is referred to as Curlys wife as though she is his woman. She is the only woman on the ranch so is an outsider, she has no one to relate to. Curlys wife is presented in the Story Of Mice and Men as a tart or a flirt her clothing and her body language create a flirty atmosphere. Her clothing is very tarty she wears red clothing and red makeup and red was the colour usually worn by prostitutes so she is wearing these tarty clothes for attention. Quote Curlys wife description She wants to be looked at, her husband Curly is not giving her the attention she needs and she is feeling lonely and apart from the world, on her own and wants a friend or to be loved. Her husband Curly also lives on the Ranch and treats his wife as an outsider, curly doesnt love his wife he just treats her as a sex object. The withered arm written by Thomas Hardy also has a woman in Rhoda Brook is made to feel as an outsider. Rhoda isnt married and doesnt have a partner, in those days to be a single mum was very unlikely so the people in her town thought she was a witch so she didnt have many friends. Rhoda lives with her twelve year old son in father lodges cottage, Rhoda is very in love with Farmer Lodge but he has a very beautiful wife which Rhoda is extremly jealous of. The thin woman who had not spoken was joined by a boy of twelve or thereabout. Rhoda Brook is not very attractive she is pale, tall and thin. Unlike Curlys wife she isnt beautiful so cannot use her beauty to attract men and get peoples attention. Rhoda is very jealous of beautiful woman so unlike Curlys wife, Rhoda is around other woman so isnt an outsider in that prospective she is an outsider because of men, she is neglected by men and is unlucky in love. Rhodas loneliness and emotional feelings only aid to the boys like Curlys wife she wants to be loved and cared about. Rhoda works on a farm as a milking woman. Curlys wife doesnt work she is just a housewife for Curly. Curlys wife was very much like George and Lennie they all had a dream but none of them came true. Curlys wifes dream was to be a movie star but she could not live her dream because she met Curly, they fell in love and he took her away from the natural world and placed her in a lonely neglected environment on the ranch. On the Ranch she is never spoken to because the men on the ranch dont want curly thinking there is something going on with her wife and another man because he would kick them off the ranch. Curly and Rhoda are very different in appearance but very similar in personality and would be feeling very alike. Rhoda is very modest and lifeless unlike Curlys wife who seems to be very outgoing and flirtatious.

The Benefits of Cloning Essay -- essays research papers fc
The Benefits of Cloning Imagine having a twin that looks and acts exactly like you. Even more interesting this twin is a product of scientific cloning. If scientists have their way, identical replicas of human beings will be roaming the earth. This scientific vision may occur a lot more recent then many think. Cloning can be (better) understood by looking at itââ¬â¢s definition, process, and some examples. This first step to better understanding cloning is to hear precisely what it is. Cloning can be defined as an organism or group of organisms derived from another organism by an asexual reproductive process. Usually members of a clone are identical in genes (Clarke, 1). Even though the definition is relatively simple, it will be several years before these projects will be technically feasible. Many species are being considered for cloning, but legal battles often halt the complex process (Grossman, 1). Knowledge of the definition of cloning helps one better understand its difficult process. The process of cloning is long and tedious and most uncommonly unsuccessful. After many years of failure to clone using adult animals, most scientists started to think it was too tough. However Ian Wilmut of the Roslin Institute in Scotland found a new successful method (World Book, 1). It should also be noted that adult males have the lowest success rate of cloning (Okimoto, 2). The actual process of cloning is due to recent advances of Genetic Engineering. Scientists can now isolate an individual gene from one organism and grow it in another organism belonging to a different species (Clarke, 1). While this is occurring a scientist can also take a cells chromosomes and nucleus, and inject them into a fertilized egg whose own nucleus has been removed (Clarke, 3). However another new process that was used to clone the worlds most famous sheep, is starting to be used more often. This new process involved taking mammary-gland cells from a sheep and starve them of growth, then electrically inject an egg which was later transplanted into a surrogate mother. Out of 300 attempts, only one survived the process, Dolly a lamb born in 1996 (Worldbook, 1). The creation of Dolly is one of only a few examples that have ended in success . Having familiarity with the process of cloning helps one understand some cloning experiments. With odds like one out of 300... ...t Type of Process 1. Isolate an individual gene from one organism and grow it in another organism belonging to a different species. 2. While this is occurring a scientist can also take a cells chromosomes and nucleus, and inject them into a fertilized egg whose own nucleus has been removed. C. New Process 1. Taking mammary-gland cells from a sheep and starve them of growth, then electrically inject an egg which was later transplanted into a surrogate mother. III. Examples A. Huia Bird 1. Once native to New Zealand but extinct for its feathers. 2. Remnants of the birds cells or bones must be found before cloning can begin. B. Woolly Mammoth 1. Larry Agenbroad a university of Northern Arizona University geologist and his team of international scientists plan to clone a Woolly Mammoth from DNA remnants. 2. The frozen animal will be flown 200 miles from Siberia to a frozen tunnel, to be studied for DNA. Concluding Statement: The science of cloning can at first be considered very frightening. However once one has a better understanding of this science through its definition, process, and some examples, one should realize that some great possibilities could occur in the future
